Festival

Information

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (1):

Is this a family festival? It's a Goldfish show that everyone is welcome at. There's no dedicated kids' zone or kids' entertainment - just great music, a relaxed picnic vibe and good people. Think sunset picnic, With dancing.

Where do I buy tickets? Right here, through our official ticket partner, Howler. We can't guarantee tickets bought anywhere else, and resold tickets may be refused at the gate.

Why does my under-6 need a free ticket? So we know exactly how many people are on site. Every person through the gate needs a ticket, including babies.

Do kids need to be with an adult? Yes. Everyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18+ at all times, with a maximum of 4 kids per adult. 16–17s may attend without an adult.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (2):

Will you check ages? Yes. Bring ID for anyone on a Youth or GA ticket - a SA ID, driver's licence, passport, or school ID for kids. If someone's ticket doesn't match their age, you'll need to upgrade at the gate (if available).

What are the wristbands for? Everyone gets a wristband at the gate. Under-18s and 18+ get different colours so our bar staff can serve quickly and responsibly. Don't remove it or swap it - no wristband, no entry, no bar.

Can I upgrade a Youth ticket to GA? Yes, email support@howler.co.za before the event. Or at the gate, subject to availability.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else? Yes, via the name-change function in your Howler account up to 24 hours before the event.

FAQs - Entry & security:

What do I need at the gate? Your ticket (on your phone or printed), ID for everyone on a Youth or GA ticket. You will be given the corresponding wristband once you're scanned in.

Will I be searched? Yes. All guests, bags, cooler boxes and picnic baskets are searched on entry. We're checking for liquids, weapons, illegal substances and anything else on the not-allowed list. Anything not allowed will be confiscated and can't be collected later.

Can I leave and come back in? No. Once you exit, you can't re-enter.

Is there a bag size limit? Keep it small: one day bag per person, plus a nappy bag if you have little ones. No large backpacks or suitcases. All bags will be searched on entry.

Is there a cloakroom or lockers? No - please pack light.

Can I bring my dog? No pets, sorry. Only registered assistance animals (with documentation) are allowed.

Leave no trace. Please pack out what you pack in. Let’s keep Cape Town as beautiful as it was before the event!

FAQs - What to bring and what to leave at home (1):

Pack these:

  • Your own food, picnic baskets and cooler boxes - food only, no liquids of any kind
  • Picnic blankets and cushions
  • Camping chairs (low-back preferred - see below)
  • An empty reusable water bottle to fill at our free water points
  • Sunscreen (non-aerosol, under 100ml), a hat and sunglasses
  • A warm layer - it cools down fast once the sun sets
  • Ear protection for kids (and for you!)
  • Your ID, phone and a bank card

Leave these at home:

  • Any liquids - including water, juice and soft drinks (except baby formula or milk for children under 2)
  • Alcohol and glass of any kind
  • Umbrellas, parasols, gazebos and tents
  • Weapons, sharp knives (plastic picnic cutlery is fine), and anything that could be used as a weapon
  • Illegal substances

  • Drones, selfie sticks and professional cameras (detachable lenses)
  • Speakers, braais, gas cookers and open flames

FAQs - What to bring and what to leave at home (2):

Where can I put my camping chair? Chairs are welcome, but please set them up on the sides or towards the back, not in front of the stage. The front is for standing and dancing - and the people behind you want to see too.

Why no umbrellas or parasols? They block the view for everyone behind you and become a hazard in the wind. The show starts late afternoon when the sun is lower - bring a hat and sunscreen instead.

Why no liquids? We have full-service bars and free water points on site, and keeping liquids out makes the search faster and keeps everyone safe. Food & drink

Can I bring my own food? Yes! Pack a picnic. You don't have to though - our food truck area will have plenty of options including vegetarian, vegan and kid-friendly meals.

Will there be bars? Yes, full-service bars serving beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks and water.

FAQs - What to bring and what to leave at home (3):

Can under-18s buy alcohol? No. Bars only serve guests with an 18+ wristband, and our staff may still ask for ID. Buying alcohol for anyone under 18 will get you removed from the event. Bar areas are fenced and under-18s may not enter them - soft drinks and water are available at a separate soft-drink counter.

Is there free drinking water? Yes, at the water points marked on the site map. Bring an empty bottle or buy water at the bar.

Is the event cashless? Yes - card and tap-to-pay only.

Can I bring my own alcohol? No. Anyone found with their own alcohol will have it confiscated and may be asked to leave the premisis.

Do the food trucks cater for allergies? Please ask each vendor directly. We'll publish the vendor list closer to the date.

FAQs - Getting there & parking:

What's the best way to get there? Uber, Bolt or a lift. Green Point gets busy over the holidays, so leave the car at home if you can. There's a dedicated drop-off and pick-up point at.

Is there parking? At this stage there is no parking on site, if this changes we will communicate this to ticket holders and via our social media channels. We recommend parking at the V&A Waterfront parking, as it is a short walk from there to the venue.

Can I walk? Absolutely. The venue is a short walk from the Green Point, Sea Point and the V&A Waterfront.

Can I get there by MyCiTi bus? Check the MyCiTi Boxing Day timetable: https://www.myciti.org.za/en/home/

Planning to drink? Don't drive. Book your ride home in advance or nominate a designated driver.

What time should I arrive? Doors open at 3pm. Coming early means shorter queues, a better spot for your blanket and time to grab food before the music kicks off.

FAQs - At the venue (1):

Is there a kids' area? No. There's no dedicated kids' zone or entertainment, so keep your little ones with you at all times. The music is loud near the stage - we strongly recommend ear protection for children.

What if I lose my child? Head to the nearest security staff member or go straight to the Info Tent / Event HQ. Before the show starts, agree on a meeting spot with your kids, and write your number on their wristband or arm.

Can I bring a pram? Yes.

Are there baby-changing facilities? No.

What about toilets? Plenty of toilets on site, including accessible toilets.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible? Yes. An accessible viewing area and accessible toilets. Email hello@wearemusicpeople.com before the event and we'll help plan your visit.

FAQs - At the venue (2):

Is there first aid? Yes, medics are on site for the whole event. Find them at the medical tent, marked on the site map.

Can I smoke? Yes.

I lost something - who do I contact? Hand in or ask at the Info Tent on the day. After the event, email hello@wearemusicpeople.com with a description. Unclaimed items are kept for 14 days and then handed to SAPS Green point

What if it rains or gets windy? The show goes on, rain or shine. Check the forecast and dress for it. If conditions become unsafe, the event may be delayed or stopped on the advice of our safety team. Updates will be shared on our socials.

Will there be merch? Yes, Goldfish merch available on site.
